Core workflow
The core Flashduty On-call flow: alerts enter channels through integrations, and escalation rules then notify specific people.
Step 1: Create a channel
A Channel is the workspace where a team receives and handles incidents. We recommend organizing by business line (like “Payment Center”) or component (like “MySQL”).1
Enter Channel List
Visit Channel List, click Create Channel
2
Fill in Basic Information
Enter a name (like
My Test Channel), select an Owning team (make sure you’re in that team)Step 2: Integrate alert data
Now, let’s bring monitoring system alerts into the system. Flashduty On-call provides two integration modes:- Dedicated Integration (Recommended for Beginners)
Path: Channel Details Page → Configuration → Integrations → Private integration → Add integrationFeatures: Point-to-point connection, alerts enter the current channel directly, no additional configuration needed, simple and quickSteps: Select your monitoring system (like Zabbix), save to get the dedicated Push URL (Webhook), configure it in your monitoring system
Verify: Manually trigger a monitoring alert. If the integration card shows Latest Event Time, the integration works. If you have no monitoring system that can fire an alert yet, add a Standard alert event integration and push a test alert with the curl example on that page.
Step 3: Configure escalation rules
Escalation Rules decide who gets notified when alerts come in.1
Enter Escalation Rules
On the Channel Details page, switch to the Escalation Rules tab
2
Edit or Create Policy
Click an existing escalation rule to edit, or create a new one
3
Configure Recipients
- Who to notify: Select yourself or your team
- How to notify: Check Direct Message (phone/SMS/email) or Group Chat (Dingtalk/Feishu group)
4
Select a Notification Template
Every escalation rule needs a notification template. A new rule starts with a template already selected, so you can keep the default
5
Save Configuration
Confirm and save the configuration
Verify: Trigger another monitoring alert. Your phone should immediately receive a call or SMS notification, and the IM group should also receive an alert card.
